Education is the art of living, it IS living

The understanding of life and the extraordinary meaning of death is education.

Our problem is how to bring about, through education, a human being who is creative, who is capable, who possesses that intelligence which is not burdened and which is not shaped in any particular direction but is total, who is not belonging to any particular society, caste, or religion, so that through that education and with that intelligence, he arrives at maturity and therefore is capable of making his life, not merely as a technician but as a human being.

Education is living itself, and the single most important thing in life.  Education is so much more than just being clever and getting a good well paying  job.  It is living wholly and happily, in harmony with others and with oneself, it is in its highest aspect transcending limitation, egoic living, sorrow, and death.  It seems life is a proving ground and a test zone where we are given opportunities to grow in consciousness, grow in life, grow in knowledge.  Life is a challenge and a call to action, and in its highest, deepest aspect we are called to fully embody life and to become united and conscious of our true being.  Jesus and the Buddha represent the quintessential teachers, they taught not morality or book learning, but how to live and how to die and what is truly important in life.

Self-knowledge is the beginning and end of education.  This is understanding and knowing oneself primaril; and part of knowing the self is seeing and understanding ones conditioning, ones environment, ones place in the world, ones place in existence.

True education gives the individual the tools and the space to flower, to teach themselves.  The ultimate aim of education is to help the individual to discover freedom, for themselves – noone else can do it for you.  The highest state of education is for the student to be the master, for the student to take his or her own education into their own hands .

Life is a vast movement – education must be as vast and encompassing as life.  All aspects of life are vital, not just book learning of facts and numbers.

Education is ongoing and important at every age level, vitally important in children, but also as adults.

Root of world problem is the individual problem—individual problem is poor education which fails to educate and nurture the total human being.  The only thing that will solve the worlds problems and the individual problem is right education.  Right education is a whole education, educating each aspect of man.  It is giving the individual tools and the freedom to explore and discover.  And it starts with children.

The problem in our society and in our schools is to inclulcate, without overdoing it, the notion of education, as in the Latin educere–to lead, to bring out what is in someone rather than merely to indoctrinate him/her from the outside.

The crisis of modern education systems

Education of young people must have fertile ground  for creativity and individual exploration.   Set aside time for contemplation/meditation and silence/space/stillness.  Must help children and young people to break out of the collective conditioning of their environment and culture.,

Well rounded-athletics, art, music.  Deep teaching of humanities-anthropology, history, religion, mythology, philosophy, psychology.

Must attract teachers that are innovators and creators, the very best and brightest.  Teacher must both teach and learn in turn, the teacher is not the authority.

An understanding of the importance of right education and the right environment for children, so that they can grow into intelligent, sensitive, whole human beings. Human beings who are happy, healthy, and good. An understanding that our education systems are desperately lacking in teaching the whole being of man. That right education is the only thing that can create a new earth.
